Next Generation Zone (NGZ) is a partnership between Career Path Services, Educational Service District 101, and Goodwill Industries. Funded through the Spokane Area Workforce Development Council and with Workforce Investment Act (WIA) dollars, our goal is to assist the next generation in reaching their educational and career goals. NGZ serves Spokane County youth, ages 16-21.
Next Generation Zone will cover the wages, taxes, and L&I for these youth to work entry-level jobs in governmental, non-profit, and local business organizations. As a worksite for the Next Generation Zone, you will: - Interview and hire an applicant who has an interest in working in your organization ( you will decide at the time of the interview if it is a good fit); and
- Have the support of experienced NGZ case managers to ensure the success of all.
To be a successful worksite for Next Generation Zone participants, supervisors must enjoy working with young people and be able to provide training, mentoring, and evaluation for the new trainee. There is not obligation to retrain the employee at the end of the work experience.
